World Tai Chi Day at Bowdoin College! (vid posted)
Shared from The Portland Press Herald (Maine Today Media LLC):
On
the last Saturday of April, T’ai Chi and Qigong enthusiasts world-wide
will again gather in their communities to celebrate these ancient arts
and to raise awareness of their potential for improving health and
quality of life. Starting on the other side of the planet in the New
Zealand time-zone at 10:00 a.m., and moving like a wave across each
time-zone to the west, people around the globe are joined in meditative
movement. In Maine there will be a gathering at Bowdoin College, open to
anyone interested; all are welcome to come observe or participate.
This April will mark fifteen years of this event on the Bowdoin College campus, and will feature special guest, Zhong Xuechao (Master Bing), a 15th generation Wudang Sanfeng Kungfu master. There will be simple T’ai Chi and Qigong exercises everyone can do followed by informal demonstrations. For a list of sites in all 80 countries, a video and pictures of last year’s events and more information contact worldtaichiday.org; for the local event contact maineqi@gmail.com; website- mainecoasttaichi.com.
Post Event post: After an opening ceremony and a big group warmup of 8 Brocades Chi Gung led by a Chinese fellow - possibly from mainland China, everyone got into groups according to what they practice and did their thing for about 45 minutes. Here is a video that sums it up.
